Issues, Issues, Everywhere ... an update

I thought I'd bring you up to date with a few things around the community.

The damaged bus shelter on Sprowston Road is being repaired by Adshel - good news!

The sofa dumped near the Black Horse Lane has been removed - swift action from City Hall.

Parking outside Woodcock Road shops. The traffic regulation order had beenmisfiled. The current signage is inadequate for the parking attendants to enforcethe restriction. New signs are to be ordered so that enforcement will commence assoon as possible.

No news on the bins for Sprowston Road to reduce the dog mess.

Residents of Carterford Drive are keen to see the hedge trimmed between Carterford Drive and Marionville Road and Green Spaces have been asked to look into theownership of this hedge as there is some confusion. Will keep you posted - having a recce today to have a look.

Elm Grove Lane - I have requested leaf clearance and also the fixing of the grit bin which has a broken lid and the water has soaked the grit inside.

Catton Grove Playgroup Update

Catton Grove Playgroup - this group is facing a funding crisis and I have asked the Childrens Services at County Hall to urgently help and a short term funding packagehas been put together to cover the debt incurred by the playgroup from now until the end of January. The playgroup has been asked to put together an action plan to show how it will become more sustainable. Norfolk County Council and Sure Start will consider further financial and other support to ensure the long term future ofthis essential playgroup.

New Crossing in Catton Grove

Good News!

A new signalled crossing or Puffin crossing will be installed on Mousehold Lane near the junction with Corbet Avenue. This will include narrowing down the carriagewayto make the signals more visible and to shorten the crossing distance forpedestrians. Work is due to commence on Monday 8th January 2007 for about 6 weeks.

Issues from around Catton Grove

I was alerted to the fact that the bus shelter on the Sprowston Road, outside of the John Groom Centre, has been damaged. The area, where many people use wheelchairs, is now littered with glass and this needs sorting out quickly. I have reported it to the City Hall Officer responsible and I will keep you up to date with what happens.

Also the grit bin on Elm Grove Lane has been damaged - the lid has been broken off and there is a pile of grit on the pavements. The leaves also need sweeping up! This needs to be sorted before it turns really cold and people depend on the Council to get this sorted. I have got onto City Hall to get this fixed.

A sofa has been dumped at the junction of Sprowston Road and Black Horse opening. I have reported this and I hope the council treats it seriously because it is blocking the pavement!
A lot to do ... and I hope that the council is responsive.
